The Conservation Resource Alliance (CRA) has obtained native trees to plant on the two restoration sites at Silver Creek. This will happen Sunday, April 23 at 10 am, rain or drizzle.
Nate Winkler from CRA will bring tools, buckets and 300 plants. There are two “regions” to plant, one down by the river and amongst the jams (dogwood, ninebark) and the other up on top where the equipment access and material staging occurred (oak, pine). Folks with differing degrees of mobility can choose one or the other. After planting, a bucket brigade water from the river will be formed to ensure all the seedlings are watered.
Please park in the main lot at the Silver Creek campground, located at 8701 N. State Road, Luther, MI 49656. You may need a recreation pass. Nate estimates this may take 3-4 hours depending on the number of volunteers. Water and refreshments will be provided.
Feel free to share this email with friends, family and neighbors. Students that are looking for volunteer hours for school clubs /organizations can check in with me at the site and will receive documentation from The Pine River Association verifying their environmental contribution.
